Leicester is a city in the East Midlands of England. It is the county town of Leicestershire. The city lies on the River Soar and at the edge of the National Forest.
Leicester is a thriving city, located on Midland Main Line and close to the M1 motorway. Leicester is a centre for higher education by way of Leicester University, De Montfort University, and Loughborough University, all based in the region. The UK's National Space Centre opened in June 2001.
